Dressing up and birthdays

So last week in school was our homecoming week, which means that we got to dress up in all sorts of crazy things to celebrate. First was America Monday (we had to dress up in patriotic colors), then Twin Tuesday/Dynamic Duo (pair up with someone to make matching costumes–my friends were crayons, and I was the red one), Decade Day (any decade from the fifties to the nineties–I was the eighties), Tacky Prom, and Extreme School Spirit. For three days I was wearing wigs and for two I had my hair crimped and wasn’t allowed to brush it, then on Saturday was a comicon and I was Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd (again with crimped hair), so I basically didn’t brush my hair for a week. I pretty much got to wear costumes all week, so it was really fun.

This Tuesday was my birthday, and I was extremely spoiled by all my friends. At lunch, a table of guys even sang me happy birthday extremely loudly. It was kinda embarrassing, funny, and nice at the same time(??). And of course, Emily sent me my birthday package way ahead of time… *sigh* My friends are too good for me. So, thank you, Emily and everyone else who made my day special.

Halloween was pretty dead this year, mostly because it was a school night. I was handing out candy and doing my homework at the same time because of it. Also, I think kids these days are…well, not exactly rude, but… Half of the kids who came to me didn’t even say trick or treat (or anything) and just stood by waiting for me to give them a Snickers bar or something. It was really cute to hear the little kids say thank you, though.

Speaking of little kids, I have to babysit two little boys (one and two years old, I think) tonight from six to eleven. I’m a little nervous because it’s my first time being home alone babysitting with kids that aren’t little cousins or something, and also because they’re so young and not to mention boys. So…wish me luck, I guess.
